Special Announcements
Zero tolerance for violence! Violence in our schools, whether it involves threats, fist fights, knives, or firearms is unwanted and intolerable. Children deserve a safe environment to learn in. Teachers and staff deserve a safe place to work. Communities deserve safe schools that educate kids and help keep neighborhoods safer. To make our schools safer, everyone can and must pitch in. This includes teachers, parents, students, policy makers, law enforcement officers, local businesses, faith-based leaders, civic leaders, youth workers, and other concerned community residents. Attached you will find helpful suggestions for Students, Parents, Teachers and Administrators of what they can do individually and collectively to improve school safety; thereby creating a culture of peace. Thank you for your efforts to keep Blue Lakes Elementary a safe environment for everyone.

Welcome back!
Parents, we have new and higher expectations for our students this coming year along with many academic and creative challenges which will require all of us to work together so that your children will have a successful and fulfilling school year.
This year, as we truly increase our efforts to go green, we will be using our website as an even more useful resource in order to reduce the amount and cost of the copies we print. Please check back here often for updates and important announcements.
If for any reason you can't access the website, please contact our main office at (305) 271-7411 if you have any questions or concerns.

Traffic Safety
As we continue the new school year, I want to take a few moments to remind everyone about the importance of traffic safety around the school.
Please remember that walking across the street between cars is dangerous and sets a very bad example for the children. Please take the extra minute to walk to the guarded crosswalk at the end of the block to cross the street with children.
Signs are posted for no parking zones, speed limits and street crossing. We need everyone’s cooperation to maintain the safety of our children.
We should all voluntarily follow traffic and parking rules and use extra doses of courtesy and common sense while using vehicles around the school.
The Wildcat's mascot has a name and it's WHISKERS! Make sure to say hello, if you see him in the hallway!
